Some is Better Than None

According to the new U.S. Physical Activity Guidelines, even two minutes worth of physical activity can benefit a person’s health. Previous guidelines stated that unless activity lasted at least 10 minutes, it didn’t count toward weekly goals. Now research has shown that even a small amount can count. So take the stairs instead of the elevator, park farther away from the store, take the dog for a quick walk, or take out the trash. Regular physical activity may reduce your risk of some forms of cancer, improve brain function, lower blood pressure, reduce anxiety and depression, and improve sleep.
