Slow Down to Eat Less

Experts say that if you slow down the pace at which you eat, you will consume fewer
calories. This is because it takes about 20 minutes for your brain to reguster the chemicals
released by your stomach that signal you’ve had enough. When you eat too quickly,
you end up eating more because your brain hasn’t had the time to figure out your stomach
is full. Try eating without the distraction of TV or reading. Don’t eat mindlessly;
pay attention to flavors and textures. Take smaller bites; chew thoroughly. Put down
your utensils between every few bites. Pause to sip your beverage or use your napkin.
Savoring your meal increase satiety.
