A British study suggests that doing a crossword puzzle every day may help keep your
brain sharp. The study of 17,000 people 50 and older discovered that the more often
participants did word puzzles, the higher their scores were on tests of reasoning,
attention and memory. Experts say that while the study reveals a link between word
puzzle use and cognitive skills, it is not known if doing puzzles regularly actually
improves skills. More study is needed to test if there is actual improvement in brain
function in people who start doing word puzzles. Until then, exercise, don’t smoke
and eat a healthy diet.
