Colds may spread when someone who is sick coughs or sneezes. Tiny droplets containing germs land on surfaces such as counters, desks, computer keyboards, phones, etc. If someone else touches the contaminated surface and then touches their mouth or nose, they may become infected. The simplest, most effective way to prevent getting or spreading infections is to wash your hands, multiple times a day. Especially do so before and after eating or preparing food, after using the bathroom, after being in public places, or if you sneeze, cough or blow your nose. If you can’t wash, use an alcohol-based sanitizer.
